Back up and restore a workspace

Make a consistent backup

1. Finish pending saves and close the workspace or quit Open Dram.
2. Copy the entire vault folder, including configuration, attachments and hidden files, to a separate protected location.
3. Give the copy a date or keep versioned backups so a later accidental change does not replace your only good copy.
4. Periodically test a restored copy separately from your working vault.

Restore without overwriting the original

1. Close Open Dram. Copy the backup to a new folder.
2. Open that folder through the workspace picker. Check users, wallets, posted transactions and attachments.
3. Run available integrity checks and inspect a sample export. Keep the original and backup until you have verified the restored workspace.

Keep backups separate from live collaboration

Do not assume that placing a live vault in a shared folder makes concurrent editing safe. A sync service can propagate deletions and damaged files, so keep a separate recoverable backup. Apply your organization’s access controls to both the live folder and its copies.
